Physical Education Intent Statement:

 

Active/ Teamwork/ Resilience

 

At Ashfield, we promote a love of physical activity through a fun, challenging and engaging curriculum that encourages all children to adopt a healthy and active life style. Children are encouraged to challenge themselves and self motivate, choosing the challenges that are appropriate for their current ability, ensuring good progress. Our curriculum encourages teamwork, co-operation and resilience which builds on core and fundamental skills that will encourage children to be confident in all aspects of their immediate and future lives.

Prince Henrys Badminton Festival

Elm class have loved taking part in Prince Henry's badminton festival which was ran by their fantastic sports leaders. We really enjoyed the competitive aspect and competing against other schools within Otley. 

The children have loved developing their resilience at West Leeds Activity Centre for their OAA day! We are very proud of them for representing Ashfield so well and trying their best at some very challenging tasks.

Sports Leaders At Your Service!

I am so proud of how hard the sports leaders have worked after school to develop their leadership skills and become a fully trained Sports Leader. We have learned how to:

 

  • Lead a warm up
  • Understand different ways to communicate
  • officiate fairly
  • differentiate games to include all ages and abilities
  • lead fun and active games
  • ensure equipment is safe 
  • create our own sports circuit which we will deliver on Comic Relief
