We set up an egg experiment to show how water and nutrients move around the body by osmosis and transfusion. We also created bar charts from our own data measuring our pulse to show the effect of different exercises on heart rate. 🥚

A musical afternoon at prince henry's grammar school

Thank you to PHGS for inviting us to watch their school edition musical of Les Misérables. It is a Victor Hugo’s classic tale is an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. 

The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance (they didn't want to leave) and it was a fantastic opportunity for them to experience life at their future high school. Many of them left feeling inspired by the talented performers and excited to perhaps join in with future productions.

Children's mental health week in oak

Children's Mental Health Week 2025 has been a resounding success and a huge well done to our Year 6 Mindmate Ambassadors for organising and delivering aspects of the week. The students participated in a variety of activities focused on raising awareness and learning about the importance of mental well-being. From crafting worry monsters, to yoga with Year 1 Silver Birch to nature walks, every moment was an opportunity for students to express themselves and build a positive mindset.

We are continuing our topic of animals including humans 

We used skipping ropes to divide the heart into the four chambers and PE bibs to act out the flow of blood around the heart. We learnt that the heart is a muscular organ located in the chest that functions as the centre of the circulatory system. It is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body, providing oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing waste products.

OUR GEOGRAPHY UNIT WORLD TRADE

We worked in groups to investigate and plan the supply chain for a chosen product. Examples we picked were water bottles, beanie hats and macaroni cheese. We thought about sourcing our product, how far the materials/ ingredients would travel and the manufacturing of the product. We finished by thinking about how to get the product to market.
