Friends of Ashfield News
Over the next few weeks Friends of Ashfield will be starting the Christmas preparations.
On Friday 10th November we will kindly ask children to bring a donation for the Christmas Hamper raffle. This can be anything from toiletries, stationery to food or drink. We only ask that anything edible has a Best Before Date of later than December 2017.
On Friday 1st December we will ask children to bring in donations for the Christmas chocolate tombola which will run at the Christmas Disco. This can be any variety of chocolate product again with a good BBD.
Due the increasing popularity of recent discos and in order to ensure that all children can have a fun and safe time, Friends of Ashfield are trying a new format. Reception and Key Stage 1 will have their own disco which will be followed by Key Stage 2, both on Thursday 14th December. More details will be sent out nearer the time.
To be able to run both events successfully we will need helpers both on the night and in preparation. This could be preparing the Xmas hampers, stapling raffle tickets to letters, selling raffle tickets, running the tuck shop or tombola and much more, some of which could be done from home. Traditionally Friends of Ashfield have supported the Christingle Service and prepared the oranges in advance. To ensure that all these events can go ahead we need volunteers, if you are able to get involved please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or leave contact details at the school office.
FoA Meeting: Tuesday 14th November 6.00pm. The perfect chance to join in the pre Christmas build up.
Please note Friends of Ashfield will not be running the Christmas Gift Wrap this year.
Your help and support is always appreciated.
Friends of Ashfield.
To help us plan another amazing carnival this year, we are going to start much earlier. There is a suggestion box in reception for all the children and adults to post ideas for a theme for next year. We need something that will look great and work for all ages, both boys and girls. Something that will be visually striking. The suggestion box will be in reception until the end of November. Please support the children to have another great carnival and share your ideas with us.
Friends of Ashfield is our friendly parent-teachers association (PTA). We raise money for the school by running events such as the school discos, Summer Fair, curry night, movie night and cake bakes.
All students throughout the school benefit from the money raised. In recent years the funds have supported: The Mud Kitchen in Early Years, repairs to the trim trail in the playground, subsidising the cost of the coaches for end-of-year Superstar Trips, Hatch-it: eggs to chicks, Inspirational workshops in school in dance, theatre etc, books for all pupils at Christmas, Christingle oranges, leaving gifts for Year 6 pupils and much more.
Ways to get involved:
Next meeting: Tuesday 6th February 2018 6pm.
If you would like to get involved with Friends of Ashfield your help would be very much valued. If you have any questions or you would like to join the Friends of Ashfield mailing-list please email: email@example.com
