Homework Expectations

Children in Year 1 and 2 are expected to spend 15 minutes per night on homework.

Reading

Please continue to encourage your child to read each night, as this will really support their development in every aspect of the school curriculum. 10 mins a night is perfect. Please sign their reading record when someone has listened to your child read. Your child will have a reading day.This is the day that their books will be changed each week.  Sharing a book with your child and discussing what is happening is also really useful and fun.

Phonics

We have also sent home words for them to practise daily which will help revise their phonics knowledge and reading. If they finish the book they are reading they can also pick up a book from home and write that in the reading record too! We will send home sounds and words for your child to practice reading with you.

Maths

We may also send home some maths practice of what the children have been learning in their lessons.
