October 2018 Blog Club

These are a few of our favourite things:

PE at Ashfield is Fun

PE is an opportunity to get active.  You exercise and stay fit.

We particularly enjoy throwing and catching  as well as running around and having fun!

Golden time

Are a you student who has followed our golden rules and not lost minutes?  Then you have made it to Golden  time! You go to clubs such as: PE, games, calm and craft.

One of the best things about Ashfield Primary School is Golden Time. Golden Time is a special period of time where you can earlier in the week you choose a club to do for Golden time. There are a different range of clubs there are craft club, calm club, P.E club and board games club. However you can lose Golden Time if don’t follow the rules so to keep all of your of your golden time you need to be well behaved.  Whilst in these clubs you will enjoy all the activities and laughing it out with your friends.

Golden time is the best part of Ashfield! I love the way it rewards all the people who have been good and followed the golden rules. I also like the way you get to choose a  ‘golden club’ such as: board games, crafts, PE and calm.

Beech Class Following Instructions

Beech Class Following Instructions 1

First you have to use a magical spade to dig a hole the size of a giant.

Next you have to place a brown sheet over it.

Then carefully place sticks and leaves on the brown sheet.

Finally place a big chunk of meat behind the hole and sticks.

Now quickly hide behind a tree and then you'll be rid of the terrible pest.

Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt

Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 1 Finding a Harvest Man
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 2 Searching for Slugs
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 3 Silky Frogs
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 4 Frogs again
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 5 Worms
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 6 Woodlouse habitats
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 7 Sluglife
Rowan Class Invertebrates Hunt 8 Searching for invertibrates

Finding invertebrates was really fun but also really hard since you had to be quiet.  Also you had to look under rocks and rotten bits of wood.

When we found a spider, we had to be very quiet.  This is not easy for Rowan Class!

Finding frogs was difficult because we had to look under things and be sneaky.

We loved the hunt because it helped us with our technology, using equipment, our science and our writing.

We'd like to thank all the parents and carers for the donations we received from you.  They will go to the Otley Food Bank to help people in need.  We were also happy to see our pupils singing with huge smiles on their faces.  Hopefully you had an amazing time at our 'Harvest Greatest Hits Singalong.'

When we first arrived at Herd Farm, we were given a brief safety and ground rules talk by Paul the resident warden.  Our rooms were allocated. The cabins were very nice and smart looking - they also had bunk beds.  We unpacked and made our beds - a new skill for some of us.

The meals there were quite nice.

Some of the activities we did were: the giant swing; the zip wire and the assault course.  The giant swing was really scary.

After activities, we hung out in the common room and in the evening we watched a movie.

When it was finally time to get back on the coach and go home, we had a photograph taken by the big stone at the entrance.
